Like many of our animals at the ranch over the years, our chickens weren’t a planned addition, but have turned out to be wonderful. Not only do they help with pest control, but provide us with fresh eggs. We also make money for our rescue by selling eggs locally. Our first hens were hatched by our daughter as an FFA project. Our rooster was kept from a rescue/owner surrender of 17 Brahma roosters. We have a mixed breed flock that produces a wide variety of coloured eggs, including different shades of brown, blue, and green.
